Great quote from a real instruction Manual

It is vital that you do not continue beyond a point where you don’t understand what you’re reading. It becomes impossible to learn something that is based on other information that is not under-stood. In other words, if you don’t know what a “widgetmatizer” (made up word) is, then you will not be able to; “adjust the widget-matizer to the correct level...”.
The solution to not understanding something is to look back earlier in the text and find the point where you were doing well. Then begin reading again from that point and look for a word(s) or symbol(s) that you do not understand. Then clear up the misunder-standing by looking in the glossary first, and if not listed there, go to a dictionary or a reference book (like “...For Dummies”) and find out what it means.
